Tascam Porta 02 MKII mic inputs?

Hi,
I'm new to home recording, and I'm looking into purchasing a Tascam Porta 02 MKII 4-track to get started. Anyway, I was looking at pictures of the recorder, and from what I can tell, the microphone inputs look like regular inputs for a guitar or bass. All of the microphones I've ever seen have the larger plugs with the three prongs. So my question is, before I buy the recorder, how do you plug a mic into one of these things? Thanks.
 
Yeah, the 02 has only 1/4 inch unbalanced inputs. So many ways to get your mic plugged in. You can buy a cable that has XLR on the mic end and 1/4 inch on the other. You can buy just the adapter. Both available at Radio Shack. You can get an external mixer. Depends on your needs.
