Tascam DR-07 MKII Lots of small files with huge gaps in between

I recorded our band playing this weekend at a bar. I started the recorder and just let it run all night.

What I got was 353 WAV files, each of which ranges from 5 seconds to 1 minute and a half. But if you join consecutive files together, there is a huge gap in the song. So essentially I never recorded one song in its entirety.

What did I do wrong?
 
Did you adjust the limiter at all? Maybe it was set too high.

I'm not familiar with this model, so that's just a WAG.
 
In the manual there is a section on 'Recording Automatically' (pg66) which based on the level of the signal and a section following that is called 'Creating and changeover to a new file during continued recording'(pg68). Possibly something to do with those settings?

Try recording something at home and see if it repeats the problem again.
