    Tascam 788 SYSTEM CHECK ... FAIL !! error

    Hi, anyone still using this? Old firmware ver1.06 It's not a Hard Drive problem, more likely firmware or something else - tried more than one different HDD's, but still the same error. Has anyone got the latest firmware file or EPROM for this machine, can't find it anywhere

    That version 1.06 is really old.The only fix-at Tascam- was replacing the soldered in mask programmed processor. with version 2.00.Then it could be updated.Basically it means that unless you have the updated CPU you are pretty much out of luck.

    Firmware resides on EEPROM, is that what you are referring to?
