i was wondering if it was possible to bounce my tracks to the computer, clean them, then bounce them back onto the recorder so that it only takes up 1 track?

dango - yes you can do that. use sound card line input on the computer.
then line out from pc back into tascam line input assuming you have line inputs to tracks to the mk3. its been years since ive looked at tascam portas .
you can also bounce similartly to mini disc or vhs hi fi or a cassette deck .
or even i guess to 2 tracks on another porta which is what some folks do.
i also have a suggestion if your open minded to give you way more tracks and flexibilty. check out powertracks sometime at pgmusic.com.
48 tracks for 29 bucks on a pc. i use it and love it, but i would suggest
at least a 1ghz pc if possible. you could then just use the tascam for mic inputs till you get a nice mixer and run the output straight into the pc and record up to 48 tracks on the pc if you have disc space. then mixdown and burn a cd on the pc of your song.
just an idea.
