Hello!!

I have a Tascam 38 1/2" 8 track recorder and a Revox 1/4" stereo recorder. I'm going to record with the Tascam and mix to Revox.

Which tapes do you prefer of these:
RMG SM900 1/2" 762M NAB
RMG SM911 1/2" 762M, NAB

QUANTEGY 457 1/4"
QUANTEGY 456 1/4"
RMG LPR 35 1/4"
RMG SM911 1/4"
RMG PER 528 1/4"
RMG LPR 35 1/4"
RMG SM900 1/4"
RMG PER 368 1/4"

These are all from Thomann. Any other (European) companies?

Thanks.

From your list, get the SM911 for the TASCAM 38 and SM911 / Quantegy 456 for the Revox.

There is really no point in using higher output tape than the above.

TIP: Any analog recorder of this age, especially if not recently serviced or one without a known history, should be freshly aligned / calibrated (for the tape you wish to use), for best results.
