Tascam 2488

I replaced the original Samsung 40GB HHD with a Seagate 120GB HDD in my Tascam 2488.
It powered-up normally but when I checked the HHD free space it only read 1GB ?...1/2/3 partions showed 32385GB, 4 showed 16384. Whats the deal...Bad HDD?

Changed jumpers to 4 different locations..it works only when in the master/single drive position.
Replaced the old 40GB HDD, it powered up fine, the read-out showed 37GB (3 much smaller partions).

Is it either a bad drive or just how the 2488 reads the larger HDD. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes is right, 2488 support partitions with max size of 32 gBytes, but the number of partitions looks like 5. My NEO came with a 160 gBytes HD and has 5 partitions, 4 with 32 and one with 5 gBytes, it's 133, I loosing almost 30 gBytes, I'd never tried to reformat to see what happens.

Mark, This is a Seagate Barracuda Ultra ATA (model ST3120022A). I got the same info from Fuzzy's.
Formatted everything again thru the 2488 proceedure and still only reads (Disk Size : : 1GB).
Someone else suggested to format with a computer which I just did, wiped it clean (111 GB of free space).
Reinstalled in 2488 ...32.768 x 3 = 98.304 + 12059 = 110.363 GB....I guess thats the ticket? THX guy's!
