Portastudio MF-P01 Playback Problem

Hey all,

Now before you start railing on me that the MF-P01 is a crappy recorder, believe me, I already know! I just picked one up to fool around with while I'm waiting for my 246 to come via UPSlowtards...

Anyhow, everything seems to be working tip-top aside from playback. I can hear everything just fine through headphones when I record, but during playback I hear nothing, nada, zip, zilch, squat. Nothing out the headphone jack, nothing out the RCA out. I pop the tape into a tape deck and can hear what I've recorded.

I opened the sucker up and everything seems to be in working order (not like I actually know what I'm looking at...)

Something's awry in the land of crappy, low-end, cassette 4-tracks... anybody have an ideas?

do you have a manual? tried to playback another cassette on the portastudio? did you switch on and off the right knobs?
manual: tascam.com read it carefully, when you hear something while recording there's no way that there's nothing while playback except you didn't record @ all
