Hello friends! :) I have some questions about this Tascam 244 that i´m currently refurbishing. I bought it for cheap since it had noisy pots and a defect transport section.

I have now opened and cleaned the whole thing, and it looks like i might be able to get it to work beautifully. Theres only one thing that i cant figure out:

The record, stop and zero return buttons still doesnt react at all.

I tried taking off the front panel to test the buttons "underneath" but it was no different there. I heard that the transport buttons are driven by the control belt, and might not be able to "drive" the buttons if the belt is too loose. Could this be the issue?

Does anyone else have experience with this problem, or have any ideas to what could be the cause?
Would apprechiate greatly any tips for troubleshooting this!

Bad tactile switches? I don't have any trouble fixing these since the mid 80's.
Sometimes the tact switch as I call them are just mashed too much to work and need to be replaced.
After new one then the deck should work.

Just changed one on a 238 deck that was mashed in. They can be repaired and many decks use these switches- Either Mouser or Digikey has them.
