Looking into Tascam X-48

I have stumbled onto a used first generation Tascam X–48 and was wondering whether or not it will work for the following purpose: My goal is to digitally transfer material from my aging DA-88 through TDIF to the X-48. It seems that I could then transfer the tracks from the hard drive of the X-48 to LOGIC.**Any thoughts on whether this machine would work for those purposes?

Yes,
The X would work fine for that.
Make sure when you get it you upgrade the software and firmware to the latest.

Are you planning then on using the X-48 for any other purposes? (e.g. putting together a 48-track outboard recording solution with a 48-channel console)? If not, you might consider spending what is likely far less on a different solution for transferring tracks via TDIF. A MOTU 2408 new is under 1,000 USD, and gives you 3 8-channel TDIF connections. Just a thought!
