Home Recording

I just saw my first TASCOM mixer in action in a home recording studio and interested in learning to use it as well as purchasing one and building my own home studio. Any suggestions in which is most inexpensive but worth starting with?

You will need more than a mixer. Mixers just....well, mix. You gotta send the noise somewhere to record it. Are you interested in casette tape, digital stand alone recorder, recording on your computer, reel to reel system? What's your budget? For real cheap, for a brand newbie, I'd look into a portastudio 414 or 424, depending on your budget. All you would need in addition would be a mic, some headphones or a stereo to monitor on, and a few decent quality cassette tapes. That type of thing can record really decent stuff, and is excellent for honing your recording skills for quiite sometime.
