Erasing tracks??

I have been messing around with my 424mkii and have recorded up to two tracks on the tape. I tried to record over what I had already recorded and have made a big mess because I hear the 2nd track, of course. What I mean is that I'm trying to record a totally different song. How can I erase the tracks I have already done, or is that not possible or just a huge pain in the butt??

Arm the tracks you wish to erase, set all recording levels to zero and hit record in the desired part of the tape you wish to erase.

Done!
