Using Plugins in the Audio Edit window (Cubase Studio)

I tried out Cubase SX in a friend's studio and he can right click the audio in the edit window and select Plugins from the menu to apply a plugin directly to the selected part of the audio.

I've got Cubase Studio 4 and it doesn't allow me to do the same.

Is there a setting somewhere that switched this off/on?

Is this a limitation of Cubase Studio?
If so can the full version of Cubase 4 still do this or has it been dropped from all versions of Cubase 4?

Also, does anyone know of a decent alternative to AutoTune?

Actually, I think it is one of the features offered in the full version that has been held back from the cheaper one. I could be wrong about this, but I seem to remember it being one of the reasons I went from SL to SX.
