Hi i wanted to know is there a way i can record the audio from a skype call using cubase 6 elements using my xlr mic? i found a way before but didn't seem to work lately? i have both mac and windows and cubase 6 elements..help appreciated

If you have two audio interfaces (one's input connected to the other's output) this could work. I wouldn't try connecting an interface to itself, which could be damaging to the unit.

If you want to attempt this you should use this driver: ASIO4ALL - Universal ASIO Driver

When you get ready to record, disable the output for your DAW in ASIO's control panel, but keep the input enabled and record to an audio track. That simple.

can i install asio on mac though? for cubase? i know i already have it on windows..is it possible you could post me some screenshots in tutorial format as am unsure still how to do it

Download soundlower.

It work the same as buses in a DAW.

Set skype+mac outputs as 'soundflower 2 channel'.

Open logic and set up a new stereo track with soundflower 2 channel as the input.

No probs man.
That wee program has saved my skin plenty of times.

Fwiw, it does the same thing as using line outs 1+2 -> cables -> line ins 3+4.
It's just a virtual (pure digital) equivalent.

Yeah I use soundflower to make screen capture tutorials on cubase.

Also, asio stuff is windows so no you do not use it.
