Not sure if this is the same issue, but when you right click and do insert track, there should be an option to also open a file. When you do that, it opens it, but it doesn't draw the waveforms. You have to click and drag in the waveform area in order for the whole track to show up. It's been that way from Acid 6 on, but now sure about 4. Hope that helps.
