digital mixer/recorder under $2K?

hello everyone,

i am planning to buy a digital recorder/mixer and my budget is around $2000. i prefer to have at least 16 channels playback, option for external effects, 5.1 channel mixing, digital in/outs

please suggest with the best one i can get for this price.

as per roalndus.com, this product is no longer in production.

how is the vs-2400cd? i think i can find that less than $2500 on ebay.

please send your comments on 2400cd.

The 1680 won't do 5.1 surround. I think that only the 24xx models can do that, but other than that, I'd grab one or even two of them off of Ebay if I were to spend $2000.00 on a DAW at this point. I don't know what the 2400 CD or 2480 goes for these days, especially loaded with the FX boards.
 
I bought a used 1680 from guitar center with the cd burner, the two effects cards, and several cables for $1600.00. I know it is not made anymore, but if you can find a used one, it does most of te same things the new models do, but cheaper.
