Can anyone tell if there are any other compatible cdr than the roland unit. If so, would it require a software update?

Not sure about the software update, but as I said in the "What do you hate most..." thread, Plextor is the only one I know of. Does anybody know differently?

Plextor's the only one I've heard of. I just bought the Plexwriter PX-W12432TE/SW from ZZounds for $379 with no tax and no shipping and it worked right ought of the box.

Right now, I know of only Plextor. For the 880, you'll need at least o/s 2.004 for the Plextor 8220 to be recognized.
