BR-1200CD more user friendly than the 1600CD?

    Hello everyone!

This is my my first post. Thank you for having me.

I have been a long time user of the BOSS BR-1200CD since 2008. I have probably recorded over 300 songs on it since then. Many of those are currently available for streaming online. Originally, we started with a Yamaha Cassette 4-track and then graduated to the VS-880 (what a classic that was- Stevie Wonder was one of the first to own one I think). I think it was this recorder that instilled this love of Roland/Boss digital workstations in me.

Thank you for indulging my recording background. Now to my question.

I worked on a BOSS 1600CD for a while, and I loved the multiple mic inputs versus only two for the 1200CD. However, I felt that the 1600 was a little archaic in some of its features. I felt I had to dumb myself down to use it actually when compared to the 1200. Was the 1200CD a newer model then the 1600CD? It like it. It seems that they imporved some functions greatly on the 1200. It's a shame really because I love having multiple mic inputs. Mostly, what I've done since 2008 is mono micing for everything except drums. But even that is just one LDC and a kick mic (which actually is amazing. Best drum sound I've ever had).

Thank you for your time folks. Very cool to see people still using these machines. And a little side note:
Sufjan Stevens recorded "Michigan" on a VS-880 and used an SM57 almost exclusively. Pretty cool.

Probably not that exciting of a topic. I get it. I'm actually having USB connecting problems right now with my BR1200 if that's more interesting.
