backing tracks - HELP

Using my Roland vs1680, my mate wants to cover some Stereophonics song, but he doesn't have a band, he's just a vocalist. Is there anyway of getting a backing track into the VS1680 on stereo tracks, and let him sing onto a seperate channel and mix the two together????

If so, what type of file do i need the backing track to be?
Where would I get one from?
 
I would think you if you did that you would have poorly balanced recording. Your mates vocals would have to be a little louder than the rest of the already mastered tracks.

I would check into downloading a karoke version of the song, if one even exists. you never know what one might find. maybe a bootleg that has a soft vocal mix.
