I have Pro Tools 10 and Mbox pro. I periodically get a message saying Pro Tools cannot communicate with MBox Pro and I have to re-launch both. I recently tried to use Boom with my MIDI controller and it lost communication 2 times within 10 minutes. My computer is new. (windows 7) It has an intel 4 core 2600k, 3.40GHz cpu, 16.0 GB of memory, 500 GB main hard disc and 2 TB second hard disc so I'm pretty sure there's no issues there. I often check the cpu usage in pro tools and its always very low. Can anyone help?

Make sure you have the latest drivers. Also verify you are using the correct bit length; 32bit vs 64bit. Check your O/S, DAW, Drivers, etc and ensure they are all compatible.

I've been fighting this myself in recent months.
 
Do clock settings have anything to do with it?
I remember my mbox 2 and PT9 had frequent dropout problems and toggling clock source seemed to help.
I never understood it or permanently solved it. A convenient upgrade removed the need.
