DAE Playback Buffer (disc buffer)

Right now I have a eSATA external hard drive which is running slow when I am bouncing the final mix to disc. So I'm going to eventually get a regular internal SATA disc installed next month. But for now, if it's running slow, can I increase the DAE Playback Buffer to Level 4 (3000ms) and will this ease up the problem some? So far so good, but I want to know that increasing it to level 4 does in fact allow for slower drives. I don't care if the system isn't as responsive right now. I'm mixing down and bouncing to a final stereo file at this point.

Thanks Steenamaroo. That helps me understand some things I didn't know. I also tried updating the RAID controller drivers on the eSATA. I'm not having any problems thus far.
