Remember the D160 rack mount multitrack?
This should link digitally with a Fostex VF160, shouldn't it? Specs are
nearly the same, w/exception of quantization a/d and d/a converters:

D160 SPECS FROM OWNRS MANUAL:

(Optional hard disk)
Recording format : FDMS-3*
Save/Load format : FDIO-1 Ver.2**
Sampling frequency : 44.1kHz/48kHz
Quantization : 16-bit linear (Non expanded)
A/D: 18-bit 64-time, over sampling, Delta-Sigma
D/A: 20-bit 128-time, over sampling, Delta-Sigma

VF160 SPECS, ALSO FROM MANUAL

Seems that the VF160 should/would be backward compatible, any opinions? Thanks- Dan, Monterey Ca.
