Wave Mapper

Hello all, I've been using Cool Edit for years now, after buying a new soundcard, the settings would automatically change the input and output as wave mapper. No matter how many times, or which way you change it, it'll never save your microphone as the input, and speakers as the out. With that, opening the program and recording without changing the settings can wind up in you recording the perfect verse, in wave mapper quality.

Normally I have more wet vocals, this leaves your vocals with what I call "sand paper quality" too many times I've had to re-record a classic verse, and it just never sounds the same. Is there any setting in Cool Edit that can improve the quality and give it that wet sound?

I appreciate any responses in advance.
