recording problems

I'm using a delta-66 with cool edit pro 2.0 and I've noticed that recorded waves sound somewhat "digitally." I notice it mostly with acoustic guitar... it isn't anything too major, but It sounds a little less than natural. I'm new to computer recording, so I'm open to any suggestions on what parameters I should look into.

also, is there any way to get monitor playback in cool edit pro 2? I can get the monitor levels to respond before I record, but I can't actually get audio to play back unless it's already been recorded. This isn't a big deal, except when I'm overdubbing and I want to hear what I'm recording in the headphones...

Try moving the mic around and see what you get. That may help, although it's possible you need to upgrade the mic.

The second issue really relates to hardware. You need a piece of gear that will allow you to hear the mic feed while listening to the playback.
