Hiss removal

hi all,

I have a job for a museum: I have to put several tapes on Cd, cut out the best peices and get better sound quality. I have allready some experience with that kind of work, so the job isn't that much of a problem.

the only thing I found hard is the hiss removal on some of the really bad recorded peices. I have one peice where EQ'ing doesn't help a lot, the noise seems te be on every frequenty, and the traditional standard hiss removal in Cool Edit removes a little without changing the sound with the right settings, but still I haven't got quite the sound that I need.

Any suggetsions?

Try the CEP noise redustion on the hiss.

Try to get a sample of just the hiss. Highlight it and go into the noise reduction. hit "get profile from selection" and close noise reduction. Then highlight the portion you want to get rid of the hiss and go back into noise reduction and hit preview. It might help. You might have to play around with some settings..

Good luck...
