Timing and layering problems... help

i recorded a rythm that sounded to me to be in timing . but when i tried to layer a backing rythym (that was slightly different)
they were out of sync . is there a way to clean up or snap audio to fit a timing criteria if it is slightly out bcause cutting and pasting is very hard this way.

you should tell more of your situation like did you do it as midi first or any?
i always do arrangement in midi first then i record each into audio track
i rarely come up with any synch problem

i recorded audio from a guitar amp to mixer than to soundcard . no midi

im also no t sure how to set proper timings for certain rythms (ex 4/4 2/4)

Once you're working with digital audio, the only way I've found of syncing up tracks is to identify down to 1 ms the same spot on each track. If, after lining these two points up by sliding one forward in time relative to the other you still have sync problems, they weren't recorded in sync so all you can do is stretch one relative to the other until they line up. This isn't quite as transparent a procedure as the simple time slide and I'd re-record before trying the stretch.

when you did the recording did you listen to any
click?
i suggest you use the click in cake as reference then see whether they synch or not
