speeds up slows down

Anyone know why my recordings are speeding up and slowing down? I'm using cakewalk 7 with soundblaster live. Any information would be appreciated.Thanks

I've seen this symptom when the system "almost" crashes due to my forgetting to change the parallel port A/B switch with my MIDI interface away from the printer and back to the interface before launching Cakewalk. Also, certain programs that conflict with Cakewalk can have the same effect. Only fix I've found is a complete reboot with all of the offenders turned off before Cakewalk is launched.
