sonar 2.2 stops responding often

i have pent4 with 1 gig ram and 2 hd w 8 mb of cache recording at 24 bit.
recently, sonar stops responding and i get the dreaded "hourglass" and i have to reboot often
i have dsl internet connection and recently installed microsoft office -how do i target what causing problem

my neighbor has less powerful computer and less problems (16 bit recording though)

i upgraded my computer for less problems not more help!!!

How strong is your P4? You know, 24 bit recording demands alot more than 16 bit recording.

It may not be your hardware, I run two computers P4 2.0 and P4 2.8 with 1GB ram, never had any problem, cos I dont install any other software other than music in the dedicated HDD. Try to take out all the extra stuff, especially Microsoft applications. Use all your other than music softwares in a seperate HDD. Also do a defrag and if you have windows XP (take out all the visual stuff) optimize it for performance.

Forgot to tell, do a spyware check too with spybot search and destroy. That may also be teh reason.
