The simper the better

Good evening all.

I have probably the simplest set up imaginable but it works for me.

I have been using Guitar Tracks Pro 3 for about 6 years on a Toshiba laptop, plugging a guitar jack into an adaptor and straight into the tiny mic port on the side.

Now, "6 years on a Toshiba laptop" might raise eyebrows, yes its the same laptop. Its never been online, i use it entirely for making music.

The problem is the laptop is starting to show signs of creaking and I have recently bought a new desk top PC which I also intend never to take online. Unfortunately Windows 7 does not support Guitar Tracks Pro 3.

Does anyone know of software that has the same amazing plug in and record functionality of Guitar Tracks Pro 3?
I've had a brief look at Guitar Track Pro 6 and hated it, it just doesnt do what I need.

All I want is to be able to record some layers of guitar onto various tracks, add some drum samples/loops, shout a bit over the top and then export it as a .wav file.

I would really like something incredibly basic, my needs are primative.

Anyone who has used Guitar Tracks Pro 3 will know how simple I like it.

Many thanks in advance for your time and any advice you guys & gals can provide will be extremely gratefully received.
