Recommend Video format?

What format do any of you recommend for running video within Sonar? I've used Mpeg1, but it seems AVI may give more options, changing SMPTE timing and what not. Also considering Quicktime as the quality can be very good with small sizes.

Also, if you recommend AVI, what codec do you use? And what resolution?

I'm looking for a good balance of quality but low CPU usage. (Aren't we all?) :)
 
I normally use AVI (the 'standard' windows codec, or DivX if space is an consideration).

I didn't know there was difference between AVI and MPG, but what do I know? ;)

I will never install Quicktime (or Real Player for that matter) on my system. Formats that needs their own players can I live without.
