Yes Scratsh, the Echo Reporter is a nice rough guage of how many audio tracks your system can support. It's mostly a HD read & write benchmarking utility with automatic translation of that reading to the number of tracks recordable with Darla/Gina/Layla. It also has a way to determine the performance with different numbers of inputs and outputs, not just the two in & two out on a standard soundcard.
Well- de la cruz mentioned MIDI tracks, not audio tracks. In CW Pro Audio 6, there are 256 tracks available for either. But if you are really asking about MIDI tracks- the # of <independent> tracks you can actually record with will be equal to the number of actual MIDI ports on your system times 16. So if you've got two MIDI-out ports, there are 32 independent tracks of MIDI output (channels) available. Same for input. You can assign more than one track to the same MIDI channel- hence the convenience of having more tracks in software than you have physically. They can serve as storage for different takes where you want all other track parameters simply copied from one track to another. They can serve as the storage for punch-ins before they are mixed with the glitch-containing track with the bad events removed.
