In Sonar 2.2, a MIDI track is generally routed to something like a DXi--a synth or a sampler. Each MIDI note has a pre-assigned velocity. Therefore, I don't understand what the volume slider of the MIDI track is for in the console view.
Is the slider adjusting the pre-existing velocities of the MIDI notes, or what? Is it adjusting the output of the DXi - this is redundant, because the DXi has its own strip on the console.
I tried some experiments. When I routed a MIDI track to a sampler (DR-008), the slider did absolutely nothing. When I routed it to a synth (Edriol VSC), it changed the volume.
Does anyone understand how this works?
