Can someone explain to me in layman's terms what exactly I can do with the Cakewalk Home Studio 9. What I want to do is be able to record my band, edit out mistakes, make it sound like Studio quality stuff. I'm not real sharp on computer stuff anyway. Can I write my own songs with this program and have it play them back to me to see how they sound? Thanks.

Short answer: It can do everything you've mentioned in your post, except for the 'make it sound like Studio quality stuff', that's up to you and the rest of your gear

Long answer: Sorry, I don't want to retype the manual : )

It's hard to give general answers to the question "What can I do with ...?", but as far as everything you've mentioned, it can all be done without too much fuss, and if you get stuck, there's always this forum : )
