O.K, from what I've learned so far, the guitar should be recorded clean and F/X add during mixing. Fine. The guitarist needs to hear his F/X while he's playing to get the feel right. Fine. Rig up an F/X loop on an aux bus, no problem.
O.K, now here's the problem, the F/X I'm adding will be plugins, not the same F/X the guitarist is hearing so the feel/playing is inconsistant. I don't want to send the signal back out to the guitar F/x processor, (once it's digital it should stay there, right?). So how do I get the guitarist to hear the F/X of the plugin while recording clean? When using plugs is it as important to track clean? will I still be able to adjust the amount of F/X in the mixing stage if I track with F/X on?
