Are the memory requirments for Cakewalk 9 Pro Audio demanding? Also, if cakewalk need lots of memory, what does it do with it?

I curently run on a PIII 450 w/64 meg ram

Audio recording is very demanding on a system, whether it's Calkwalk or Cubase, Logic etc.. Just the way it is. Some programs use memory more effeciently than others, but generally, the more memory the better. 64MB is ok, but 128 would be much better. A fast hard drive is also critical to getting the best performance - 7200 RPM for IDE (or SCSI), works well. What it does with the memory, is cache bits of your audio files for faster access(much faster than any harddrive). Audio files are large though, so caching is inevitable. I've been meaning to upgrade my memory (256MB) to 512MB to see if Cubase (or Windows) will make use of it properly.
