Another question: when I bounce tracks (GT Pro) sometimes there is a different volume balance between the tracks afterweards than the one I had adjusted in the mixer. Is this unusual? What's the easiest workaround? The tech said add a volume envelope first but that didn't work for me. thanks!!!

Well, I don't use GT Pro, but I think it's similiar. Did you check the "Bounce to track" menu for what to apply? It's probably you need to check/uncheck certain things to make it right. I mean something like bus, track setting, main out setting, etc...

Perhaps you are attentuating twice, or applying some effect twice.
