SR-16 and SR-18 question: Erase preset patterns?

Can the preset patterns be erased and then used as user generated patterns?

For example, the SR-18 has 100 preset, 100 user patterns.
Can the 100 preset patterns be erased and written over with your own user generated patterns.
This would then give you 200 user patterns.

Also, can this also be done with the SR-16?
(Yes, I know that it has fewer of each.)

Thanks in advance.

Page 5 of the Alesis SR18 manual:

While recording these Patterns, the SR18 will be in Pattern Mode. The SR18 holds 100 Preset (i.e., can't be edited) Patterns and 100 user-programmable Patterns, each of which can be from 1 to 128 beats long.

Likewise for drum kits:

The SR18 includes 100 Preset and 100 User Drum Sets. Note that edited Preset Drum Sets may only be saved in a User Drum Set location.
