unbalanced-to-balanced cables mpc2kxl(unbalanced outputs)dps12(balanced inputs)

The dps12 has balanced inputs, and my mpc2000xl has unbalanced outputs.

Has anyone dealt with issues similar to this?, and if so what would you recommend?

Would I benefit from making balanced-to-unbalanced cables?

Any feedback is appreciated.

The answer(s) depend on what kind of "balanced" connections you have - there are several types, some of which are not really balanced. I'm not familiar with either of the units you mention, so I can't help you there - maybe the manual shows which way they're done. Here is an extremely helpful link that can show you how to connect them, once you find out which variety of "balanced" the dps12 uses.

also, if you back up to rane.com, they have a lot more useful tech notes that may come in handy. Hope this gives you some insight... Steve

OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the reason why akai has balaced inputs is so you can use whichever you have with no probs.

if you have balanced signals then fine. the dps completes the balanced circuit.

if you have unbalanced signals fine. the dps doesnt care.

balanced signals are for long cable runs. keep your cables under 20 ft. and youre fine.

in other words DONT EVEN WORRY ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:p
