Hi all just joined this site today and needing so help. I inherited my AkAI but have no manual and a bit stuck as I have never owned an Open Reel before. It's been boxed for about 6 Year and I am trying to get it up and running, it came with about 50 or so tapes all loaded with music so it's going to be fun to find out what's on them. I am not used to having 4 phone leads coming from a 5 Pin Din rather Din to Din or BNC. So to these leads then there made by Chord Company " Chrysalis", well i have red and black phono with arrows on leading to the AKAI then yellow and blue pointing to the Pre Amp. So what goes where would help to start, then the heads will be next and I have been told isopropyi on cotton buds so thats on order. after that I am stuck. A dealer said its well worth having a good service and is a good machine that shows the shortfall with digital. I am more upto date with my Linn LP 12 and Naim Amps.Any comments welcome.
