    latency compensation not working

    Hi,

I would like to overdub in ableton but every time I record with a click track, there is a delay between click and my playing. But when I adjust the latency compensation, nothing changes. I've even tried on other DAWs and the latency compensation does not work there either. Does anyone know what the underlying problem could be? Perhaps something with the clock on my computer?

    Thanks,

    Jack

Some more info would be useful.

    What are you playing?

    How are you recording it?

Answers to just those two questions would go a long way

I turn it off for live monitoring.

Make sure you have an interface with ISO drivers, use those and set to next to the lowest. If you get crackle, increase the buffers.

Delay compensation doesn't work like you might think.

That should give you an idea of its intent.
