Hi!

I' currently writing my bachelor thesis and I'm researching in the field of interface design. The result should be a list of requirements for an Ableton Live Controller and therefore I need your help!
Just follow the link and take part on the survey:

in English

and German
http://www.q-set.de/q-set.php?sCode=YMKWAFFUXGYK

I know that the questionnaire is far from perfect, so fair criticism is always welcome!
Unfortunately an user observation is too extensive, but I can extract useful informations from the posts here, additional discussions and opinions on this topic would be awesome!

I'm mainly using a simple laptop setup with an Akai LPD8 controller. It's cool and I can get productive very quickly, but it don't feel like I have full control and flexibility. For me most controllers still feel like a compromise, not like a solution. But I' not sure in which direction the evolution could go, or if this evolution is possible at all. New input devices? New protocols? ...

many thanks in advance
Finbar

done...couple of ones should have been multi choice...I use desktop and laptop..and in song construction i use arrangement/session 50/50

Im sure it wont upset the survey though lol

multi choice

Yeah I use desktop and laptop too! But you can install ableton on 2 systems so i think most of the Ableton Users install it on a desktop and a laptop and use them both. It's more to get a hint what working environment the user would prefer!

Here's some stuff I did on my homemade controllers:

It's constantly evolving. Recently I found that by using a rubber band I could eliminate both the metal return springs and it feels smoother. I also replaced the metal levers with drumsticks and it works a lot better.
