Ok after I buy them, would I need to purchase speaker cables. Also, what do they come with?

What is in included when you buy them? Do you have to purchase anything else to connect them?

Ok I went to a Sound store today, to price check the Yorkville's, they didn't have them but they did have some Alesis Monitor One MK II's. I listened to them and think they sound good however I didn't have anything to compare them to. How would they compare to the YSM-1p?

Well, I'm not expert; but the Yorks will provide you a better representation of your mix. I just moved from Monitor Ones to the YSM's and the diff. is night and day. The best way to describe the Monitor One's is to say they sound like a nice Hi-Fi speaker. In fact, I used to have a pair of Bose 302's for my stereo; and the Alesis sounded very similar. That isn't nec. bad; but it does have a hyped "low-mid" sound.
For mixing monitors, you want to hear what you've actually got in your mix. The Yorks have really helped my mixes and have some "depth" (Something I had never even heard on my Alesis)
I would go for the York's. Just my 2 cents :=)

FYI...my Monitor One's were the older "original" version. Good luck, and as has been stated before, let YOUR ears be the judge! After all, you're the one doing the mix:)

Yes.. I will good ahead and get the Yorkville's as planed. When I get them, I'm going to take them into store to let them hear them. What type of speaker cables you use?

Yo Heezzi:

You can get Yorkville on line and they will tell you where the closest dealer is to your panhandle handle.

There is probably 22 tons of stuff on this site about cables. You don't need to spend it all on cables but you should get a decent set with adequate connectors.

I assume you are getting the "passive" Yorks? I think the amped Yorks are available but I haven't heard much about the quality.

I really dig my passive Yorks and I sold my Alesis I's to "SOUP'S ON" in Seattle, Wn. Guess they dug them for some reason.

Green Hornet:D  :p :p

Yeah I was going to get the active ones. I checked Yorkville's site and the store didn't sell the YSM's only Yorkville Pro Audio equipment. Now I need to find them on the net.

The best price I found was at Gear1Music.com

I think it wsas $430 w/ shipping. You wont' need speaker cables for the actives (I'm sure you knew that...sorry, just making sure:) ) and I would suggest you use balanced cables from your mixer/soundcard,etc. to the York's. It has both 1/4" and XLR. Either will work just fine. I'm sure you'll like the Yorks' I have been nothing but pleased with mine thus far.

I will have to temporary chain the speakers to the computer's soundcard.

These things are huge!! I didn't know they were this big. I will need some 1/4 cables. Anyone here running them into a non-recording soundcard?

I have the monitors hooked up, and I am hearing some low noise comming from the tweeter region, is this normal?
