I have been searching for a good set of budget overheads.... I ordered the 603's today... came with the cables and clips ($159.95 a pair)

Anyway... I also came across these Yorkville Mics.. (Apex)....

Anyone used them?

Im thinking of grabbing a pair just for the sake of doing a shootout.....And who knows.. maybe I will like them...... I figure, if I don't like them I can at least trade them back in at the store

Anyways... I'm finding quite a few budget mics in the Apex line, and I'm curious if any of these will be giving the ECM 8000's or 603's a run for there money.

Check them out...

And if anyone has used them, please fess up, I'm interested to hear your thoughts...

From the spec I read the 603s has no competition here, It is closer the nady , maybe even the same mic with the apex label.

as much as i like yorkville, i have not heard great things about the mics. i know one guy who is very knowledgeable about mics who says the apex sm58 clone is a better mic than the sm58. however, he says the large condensors are pretty much run of the mill for any asian large condensor mic. in essence, he thought them to be average for a low cost mic.

Look at the freq response of their small condensors, not even close to the 603s.

As for their large condensors, they work, but their is nothing that makes them stand out from any of the other cheep mics. A friend of mine has a 420 and a 430 but he hardly uses them, his A-T and AKG mics(3031, C-3000, etc...) win 99% of the time hands down.

I have a 420 and it ain't NOTHING to write home about.
I know it's neither here nor there but I just got back from Mars (which is going out of business. SURPRISE!!) where I picked up an Audio Technica 4047/SV for $300. I can dig it.:DI was just dying to tell someone.
