Yo Pudgy Woofer Studios:

NO BASHING HERE.

There is a site for the AW16 which you can dial up. A group of enthusiasts for the SIAB operate the site.

Also, it isn't a tough box to learn but there is ALWAYS a learning curve unless you are already a genius. [Which I'm not.] I'm still learning my Yam 2816 and I've had it for a couple of years.

You will get nice quality sound with the 16AW. So, if you use the "search" button here, you will find enough about the AW16 to fill the Grand Canyon.

Good luck and remember, Yogurt isn't fattening but don't spill it in your studio.

I just bought one yesterday in Guitar Center.
They mached Musicians Friends price of $950.00. I am on the manual now and its pretty darn FAT! :(

I hung up my computer for recording, no more hardware, irq. ics, imp, stp, cab, CBS, ABC and CNN errors!:D

Hey Hornet, you wouldnt happen to have that url would you?

a master of the obvious

thanx greenhomey Im aware of the search button.

I thought thats how I could find my missing sox!!!!!
.... And I did use the search button and only found a bunch of bullshit like I was trying to desparately avoid by making this post.

Did ya follow that?
Ya know the typical "siab " suck , stay away yadda yadda.....

So your just telling me about the fact that Im going to have a learning curve.Thats the first Ive heard of this learning curve things, whats this now?
Where would I be without ya?
And 2 years to learn one piece of equipment?
Ill quit first.

Thanx eyeslikefire....Ill pm ya as I learn and maybe offer ya some tips or vice versa...Ill get mine on thursday I hope.
Guitar center matched MF because they ARE mf.Its the same company.
I also found out that they bought 1500 of theses units and basically screwed all the other yamaha dealers....what a riot.
Thats what buying power will get ya.

I know, thats why I called them. Actually I called Sam Ash first just because they were close to my job but they had it for $1,300.00!! I didn't know they bought that many units! Thats pretty damn impressive!!!!

yeah thats silly allright.

I just called UPS, they have a location about 25 minutes from me....I tracked my recorder....Its there....But I CANNOT pick it up from them.Imagine that? I figured Id save them some time and I get it a day early.....no dice....I hate brown.
Anyways...I paid 949, same as you....free 3 day shipping even...Im psyched.

Thanks my green bro...!
Good 04' to you to man!;)

Congrats on your purchase, Dog! You'll find loads (more than 1000, I believe) of very satisfied users over at the site that Hornet mentioned. Hornet's also right about the learning curve with any DAW. The key is to move ahead slowly but surely, reminding yourself that once you learn this stuff--on any DAW--
you'll have the knowldge forever. I've been working with the 16G for over a year now and am still discovering so much untapped potential for producing cleaner, easier recordings. Now that I'm comfortable on the G, I can also use other DAWs with some degree of comfort.

Take your time, take notes, practice with some disposable sample tunes, and have some fun with the whole learning process. Too much rushing will probably lead to frustration and weak mixes.

Best,

J.

P.S. Be sure to use the SEARCH function at www.aw16g.com before asking too many questions. Most of the basics have already been covered in detail and are waiting for your search.

thanx...Im sure Ill like it.
I do have some experience w the digital domain, And Ive been reading the maunal in pdf online for weeks now.
Im going to learn it very quickly and thoroughly ive decided.
And thanx for the aw 16 gfsite, It may come in handy.

I produce, edit, film and appear in an extreme mountainbike video series called "The Amateur Files"
Its east coast based and part 2 is just about ready for release pending some advertisers w sticky checkbooks.
Heres a link if anyone is interested.
Im one of the riders, I recorded all the music and played bass and sang, and Im the editor and producer.
My vid Company is called Flying Polack Productions.

My point was Im very familiar w digital editing and should be ok.
Some of the proggies I use are so hard to figure out its actually funny. So naturally Im quite used to complexities.
Also pardon the quality , its in wmv to save web space, the final is a perfectly clear dvd.

I know you guys probably arent into this sort of thing But Ill post the url anyway.
Please pardon the cheesey web page, I have no time for web work.

Well yesterday was the first time that I actually sat down and layed some tracks on the G. The shit is really awesome, in less than 10 minutes I set up and routed conections (internally) and recorded a couple of guitar tracks. Very straight forward and easy, I'm sure I only made a tiny scratch on the surface.

But everything I've seen so far is incredibly cool.

thats very encouraging.....
Im actually waiting for Brown to arrive w mine as we speak.
Still shopping for monitors also.....thats gonna piss me off....new siab w no cool monitors to speak of.
Oh well.

Yo Gordo Perro Estudios:

For a small price, you can get a pair of Yorkville passives and they will serve you well until you want to upgrade.

I'm still using mine and they work very well. As you find if you poke around and search about Yorks, good vibes.

You can get the name of the nearest dealer by getting Yorkville on the net.

Got to hear parts of your work but the movie, for some reason, didn't come through on my drunken PC.

Green Hornet:D :p

the movie didnt work?...woah...
I just played it....def your pc is the prob....ya scared me there.
Try again maybe....it seems to work ok and thanx by the way for checking it out....the name of the band is STIFF
As far as passive monitors go, I would then need to invest in another power amp....Im gonna go w powered ones, I hate power amps..
soon Im gonna kill a ups driver.

Yo FDS:

Can't get your flick--keep getting a sign that says the file has been moved.

Send me the file via E-mail and I see if I can download it.

Yo Plump Woofer:

My error: It's the PM button you have to hit.

However, I suspect you'll be busy with the DAW Yam 2816.

BE SURE TO READ PAGE 12 -- You have to shut down the unit as directed or it can screw up your HD.

Yo Gordo Perro Estudios:

ROTFLMFAO!!!!! I nearly keeled over bro...
WTF do you come up with these!!!!! LOL!!

Actually it sound better if you say Perro Gordo instead of Gordo Perro. ;)

FDS...
Let me know hows it going with the "G" when you have a chance ok.
