XLR's can and are used for any balanced connection. Mic inputs and outputs, line inputs and outputs, even power for lights in some video applications...
Don't ever confuse the connector with the signal it is carrying.

To be honest, any signal that requires 3 pins. As someone said previously, you can send anything you want down it (within reason). The connector doesnt make any difference.
Brilliant! Never seen that. I always thought something like a Beta98 was tiny enough to be used in a clever way - and still be 'ok' sounding. Someones obviously done it. Are they any good?

Yeah, they are perfectly good, quality mics. There's quite a few people on the BBS that have some of his stuff. And I see now that Jon is not just sitting on his butt out there in paradise, but keeps coming out with new stuff, too.
