Hi all,

Anyone got an old midi keyboard they're looking rid of? and old casio ctk or something?

I made a max/msp patch that pretty much lets me use my pc keyboard to control solo/mute/rec arm/transport in Pro Tools, but a computer keyboard is no good cos there are loads of shortcut conflicts etc.

I'm thinkin i strip back a midi keyboard or something like and use it as an input device instead.

Lemme know folks.

i guess so, but it would defeat the purpose to some extent. It's already a control surface with a recognised protocol in pro tools right?

How much u lookin anyway? It has enough buttons for my purpose.

I just want it out of my way. I suspect it would cost a bit to ship it to the UK though.

ah yes, you're in the states huh?

Maybe i'll see what's happening locally and come back to you?

Thanks Diggy!

Watch for cheap Radio Shack (if you got those in the UK) or Casio keyboards. Lots of them are MIDI capable.

The Casio MT-540 would be ideal. It's not all that interesting as a keyboard. :laughings:

Now, the HT-700 is a beautiful little synth. It's the only Casio home keyboard that you can create your own vintage Casiotone-style voices with. So if you find one of those for cheap, you can have some old school Casio fun with it when you're not using it for Pro Tools commands. :D

HA. That's true!

Ideally, i want something that i can rip apart.

Well,,actually, ideally i just want a little diode matrix midi interface but they're surprisingly expensive, lol.

I plan to build a very slimline box to sit above my apple keyboard.

Should be nice. I'll post a DIY thread if i get some hardware to work with.

i've seen ones like it. Maybe i'll just spring for one.

Thanks again diggy.
