ok, well..not really..it's fine. but i didn't realize you could unscrew it and expose the circuit board...I accidentally turned it a bit the other day, went ahead and took it off just to look at it for a second.

I didn't touch anything but for some reason i felt weird after i did it. not very good with electronics and such...

but my mic is still ok right? :)

actually my real question is, being a tube mic - do I need to let it "warm up" for a few minutes before I start using it for best results?

Relax and switch to decaf. Things that are made to be taken apart can be taken apart. If you didn't touch anything, and the mic still works, you're OK. And yes, warm up the NTK. It's one of the many uses for my lava lamp. If I turn them on at the same time, by the time the wax is flowing, the NTK's hot to trot. In my experience, at least half an hour is good...Richie

half an hour? wow....and that makes a big difference in the sound of it?

i don't think i've ever warmed it up for more than a minute.

/me switches to decaf.

I warm my tube preamp up for at least an hour before using it. I heard that some units require up to three hours of warm up for the best sound, so if I know well in advance that I am recording, I'll let it sit for a day.

they're prettty solid

mine took a spill...tipped over and the windscreen hit the edge of the drummer's tom. bent the screen in a bit...

but it still works fine...just don't touch the part under the windscreen...LOL

but they are build pretty solid...a lot like a tank.
