Ight yall i need to know cuz i'm in the market for a board so which one is it gonna be? The motif the fantomx or the triton extreme? 76 keys by the way tell me which one you prefer and y?

I've never played the triton extreme or the fantom, but i have the Triton LE and i've played the motif. I kinda wish i would have gotten the motif because yamaha boards just sound better to me. Also, i like yamaha's piano. I was crazy about korgs piano at first but it's gotten old now. As far as roland, i've always liked the sound of their boards but i've never played a fantom. I gotta ride to the music store and play around with a few of those boards. If i can only get around the aggravating salesman who asks me "How can i help you" when i first walk thru the door!! :D

I don't produce much, but a dude that made a beat for me had a Motif and that thing was NICE. I say Motif cuz that's what I've messed around with. I like the sounds on it too.

i got the triton - my only real regret is that i didnt get the blue extreme - cuz burnin a cd takes a god awful long ass time - even wit just burnin one song on it - if u burnin several at once - as i do - just cuz i hate "waistin" a 800 mb cd wit 1 frikkin song -

i end up goin out to get some grub or chill for a minute - come back later to get the "songs" i made on the board -

but song quality, instruments - im real good wit what i git from the triton (had i the loot, i would get the motif as well)

wish i knew midi - but everytime i try - i fuck it up - so . . . im stuck wit "cd burner" from the snail-age

Try them out at your local Sam Ash or Guitar Center and pick what you like.

I don't have a local store that has these i get the sales pitch " i can order that for you" (for a diff. price) higher of course and all they got there is some old ass shit that i wouldn't pay for

all b.s. aside... i sell keyboards and recording gear and i gotta say the fantom x is the nicest board out right now. i wouldn't buy a extreme or motif right now cuz if you noticed the price dropped which usually means something.

but i use a fantom and have been real happy with it. if money is a factor look at the juno-g cuz that's a nice lil board too.

Lazi Has popped in the Forum..

listen the Lazi..he knows his stuff..

peace

i agree with lazi too if hes talkin about the x6-8, but if its the xa which is also a nice board, id do more self research.

he does know his stuff.

and to lazi you still sellin equip. huh

whats the mv goin for?

I have a Fantom-S (the model before the X's). I love this thing, if Roland improved on it's design and sounds I can't imagine it being anything other than great.

the xa is cool but i'm stuck on the $400 difference between the xa and juno-g. at all times tho i gotta recommend the flagship because of upgrade and features. i kinda look at it like buy once and never look back i you can.

i'm rocking the mv too... slut no doubt.... but the mv8000 is pretty damn nuts. i'm just doing the basic shit and rolling with the mv. great sounding sampler and features out the ass. the screen and mouse make things easy as hell and up the work flow. the fearture list in the new operating system is long as hell and if they listen to the users it'll be a top box. my only gripes are usb 2.0, no thumb drive, no card read, and a roland proprietary sample file. but as far as the machine working it's the truth.

but p.m on the price cuz i can save you a little bit.

mentallica,

thats why i said do personal research. going off specs., reviews, and a little use i would go with a fantom s over the fantom xa for what i could get it for new at the guitar center.

i figured with what i posted he would get it. but with that said we all know there's motifs that beat the s and xa as well as other keyboards..(but not the x-6 through x-8 in my opinion)

if he makes enough quality trips to the local music store he'll see for himself and not make a pricey mistake as most of us have at least 1.

good luck, take your time with the decision. theres soft. and a midi controller for now. thats what i wish i would have did ( and thats coming from some1 who prefers hardware.

yo ease u tellin me there's no guitar center or same ash in upstate NY..... wow thats hard to believe...... but yea the only board i've ever messed wit was the motif... and u kno my opinion on that.... hopefully this weekend ill make it to the guitar center and mess wit the other boards they got there....... lol the sales people at my local GC pretty much kno i aint there to buy nothing so they dont even mess wit me no more.....

I like the fantomx the best.....I have a motif and even though pianos and elctric pianos and strings are very good...most the rest is not that great...the Bass is horrible.....but then again It depends what kind of beats you trying to make ..i assume hip hop and R&B so Id definatley go with the fantomx..best all around sounds...My friend has all three boards and he aGREEs that the fantomx he uses the most.....why get the x7..instead of x6

the more keys the better so you can hit that "special" note your lookin for that 61 keyboards seem to be missing if u know wut i mean.....and yea i got 1 gc up here and i told you homie said he could order 1 for me but he does have a yamaha ex5

get the fantomx and call it a day and be happy...you wont regret it

lol :D a 88 key keyboard isn't going to have a special note that a 61 doesn't. They are all A - G and if you need to get higher or lower for whatever reason, change the octave up or down.

i'm pretty sure Lazi would back me up on this, get that fantom board and cop the triton and motif as rackmounts. or you can get the motif with the weighted keys as the board and cop the triton and fantom as rackmounts. Lazi, do you still have the hook up on those boards?

I have the Motif classic and I love it to death, but I'm going to upgrade just like you homie here soon and heres the research I've found out on the Fantom. I'm really leaning towards the Fantom over the Motif es because not onlly does it have keys homie, but it has drum pads also. Pretty cool huh? It's like having a damn near mpc with a keyboard right there in front of you on one whole workstation. No keybaord workstation has that. On the downside I heard their sounds are weak compared to the motif, but i'm pretty sure you could work around that. I mean damn it would be darn right easy to do your drum patterns on the fantom i bet plus you got the keys right there. I bet it would be sick. Just my 2 cents for you to think about. I'm either gonna go get the fantom or the roland mc-808 groove box. I also might just end up getting the motif es since i already know how to use it.

If you're going to get either the MC-808 or the Fantom X, go with the Fantom. I was reading the MC-808 review in Music Tech Magazine and it said that the MC sampled with NO high end or mid-range - regardless of how the sounds are brought in.
