Ha! Got ya.
Hey, seriously guys. Enought with the "What's the best mic?" stuff.
If you can't audition a bunch of 'em and find out for yourself, and/or if you can't get a decent return policy, then you're taking a big risk -- no way around it.
If you have to resort to the testimonials of what works for a bunch of guys on the net . . . all of whom are doing very different styles of music, have different ears, different tastes, different levels of experience, different rooms, etc etc
. . . then again, you're taking yet another big risk.
If this is the situation you're faced with, and you don't like taking risks, then don't buy anything right now.
Unfortunately, there are no Holy Grails in the mic world. There's a few really good ones, and a whole lot of decent ones. It's a lot like women, actually: If you're willing to lower your standards a bit, you'll be pleasantly surprized and can make just about anything work for you. On the other hand, if you don't have a lot of skills and/or cash, you probably won't be able to land one of the few good ones, and if you do, consider yourself lucky.
And again, much like with women, one man's trash is another man's treasure . . . you'll probably want what you can't have . . . what's right for you isn't necessarily right for someone else . . . bla bla bla bla bla bla bla
So quit with this crap already!
Thanks a bunch,
Chess
