Hey i just today bought a vox venue lead 100 amp, which is the nicest amp i have ever played on and for just £90!!! (about $170)

On the back, it has an input/output which says SLAVE, and i just wondered if anyone could tell me what this does?

Thanks

A slave is simply a line out (no power or preamp) to allow you to conect a second (slave) amp. The good thing about it is that you can run 2 amps with different efx on each without affecting one another. Basically it works like a splitter.

I thought that slave was an older term for what we would now call a power amp? So a slave would be a line out (i.e. post pre-amp and EQ) for a power amp to add volume. Unles your post was based on specific knowledge of the Vox in which case I'll shut up ;)

Danny is right for the most part.....I don't think it acts as a splitter on most amps.

Though my THD BiValve has the output after the poweramp section.

Sorry for the confusion, the slave out should allow you to run two amps in paralell, as opposed to a line out(which is preamped) to run them in series. When using the slave line, the efx settings of the first amp should not affect the second one. On the line out the settings of the first amp will be transfered to the second.
