What Do I Need To Start Off?

I'm new at at all this and was wondering if anyone could advise me in what
i need to start i have no microphones or recording systems as i just don't know what i'm looking for.

What's up Claire, I see you r from birmingham not that far from me but anyways, first thing you need to do is figure out what will you be recording, Bands if so what instraments will you be recording and that will determine how many mics you will need and what hardware to connect to your pc. And another thing is what kind of budget are you looking at spending on the equipment.
